Unproven allegations against Cub fans

So I'm reading that "hilarious" web site Deadspin this morning and I saw this Youtube video clip featured:

It is a short clip of some weird Asian guy yelling and pouring like 40 gallons of ice water onto some blonde reporter outside of Wrigley. The guy then posted it on Youtube and I guess he is going to be in trouble now or something. And since he was covered in blue and red paint and yelling about the Cubs, people are saying that Cubs fans are trashy.

But here's the problem. Deadspin is written by a flamboyant Cardinals fan, which means that he is not exactly going to give a fair picture of sports when it comes to my beloved Cubbies. The reality is that only in St. Louis would fans harass some hot blonde reporter because that's not cool (or straight). I know Cubs fans, and there is no way that the "Cubs fan" from that YouTube video is representative of ME AND MY BOYS.

In fact it is even possible that the guy in the video is not even a Cubs fan. I'm just throwing it out there, I don't know if I'm right or not. But what I DO know is that it is possible, because Will Leitch and the rest of his Deadspin crew are not going to fact check anything when it comes to trouble that allegedly was caused by Cubs fans.

So let's get the facts please before we go around whipping out allegations against our fanbase in Cubbie Blue.

Phillips: smart. Hershiser, Shulman: retarded

Interesting moment just now on ESPN's telecast.  It was a simple question for the broadcast team: "Will the Cubs win their first World Series in 100 years".   Seems like an easy enough answer, yet only Steve Phillips had the brains to answer "yes".   Both Orel Hershiser and Dan Shulman botched this softball of a question and said "no", agreeing that the Angels were most likely to win it all.  Id like to take this moment to kindly invite Orel Hershiser and Dan Shulman to step in front of the next oncoming L train.  Its pretty sad when you are being shown up in the booth by the same guy that managed the Mets into (even greater) obscurity.  And your broadcasts suck.

Boys in blue trailing by 2 heading into the top of the 6th with a rain delay stalling things.  Could be trouble for most teams, but most teams dont have the Cubbies bats.  RALLY TIME!!!!!!

67-45...

Thats the Cubbies record after an 8-5 victory for the good guys over the Pirates yesterday.  The win itself was both exciting and frustrating.  The bullpen was shaky, allowing the bums from Pittsburgh back in the game late, as the golden boy Jeffrey Samardzija (Go Irish!!!) looks like he is still getting used to pitching in the big leagues.  Fortunately, red-hot Reed Johnson went long again in the bottom of the 8th, with one Alfonso Soriano quickly following suit, giving the boys in blue the 3 run cushion that they would end with.  

Yet what should really stick out today is that record, 67-45.  It's all you need to look at to realize that this Cubbies squad is one of the best teams to take a major league field in quite some time.  The last time the Cubs were this many games over .500 was October 1, 1989, the last day of the 1989 regular season in which they finished 24 games over .500.  Id rather not talk about how that season ended, but it offers some perspective into just how special this club really is. 

October 1, 1989!!  Thats 19 years since the Cubbies have been this good.  And since we all know that the Northsiders are the best team in baseball year-in and year-out, we can therefore conclude that this Cubs team is the greatest major league ball club in nearly 20 years.  Its the transitive property.  

With that said, big day today Chicago!! Once again we have the Cubbies in the national spotlight game on ESPN.  They'll be hosting the Astros, who are coming off a series sweep of the Mets.  That worried me a little at first, until I reminded myself that it was the fucking Mets that they swept.  Those homos would probably lose to the Cubbies double-A affiliate, the Tennessee Smokies, at this point. 

We'll have more throughout the day and up until game time, including thoughts on a possible Mark Cuban purchase

Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday, Cubs fans.  Losing to the fucking Pirates will do that do you.  Yours truly needed almost a suitcase of Old Style to erase the memory of that debacle, then spent a night on the town with some of Chicago's finest ladies.  You wont find anyone under a buck fifty in that crowd, if you know what I mean.  I tell ya, its just like the Cubbies to follow up the statement series of the season with a shitshow like that.  Good thing Lilly came on and restored order today.  Hope you savored that win on Friday Pittsburgh, itll probably be the highlight of your season.  God the fucking Pirates suck.
